Northern California Destination Wedding

Damp Knots Are Harder to Untie

In Humboldt, every single wedding needs a back pocket rain plan. There are certainly seasons where rain is unlikely to be a factor but redwood coast weather can be unpredictable even in the most temperate of seasons.

It Can’t Rain All the Time

But when it does, you have to roll with it. Rain introduces a vibey, vaguely 90’s noir mood that you won’t find in the sunshine. Odds are that you were drawn to the redwoods for their dark fairytale feel in the first place. The shadows as deep as the silence and the pockets of light dancing in the ferns. Rain deepens the greens and adds an unexpected sparkle. Embrace it. Don’t forget to ask your makeup artist to pull out all the waterproof stops.

Rain Does Require a Pivot

The most stress free approach to your wedding day requires acceptance. For some celebrations this means toting along a few umbrellas, for others it’s ensuring that your reception has covered space to accommodate your guests. The only thing that truly matters is that you share the experience with each other and the loved ones you’ve invited to join you. As someone very wise once said, damp knots are harder to untie.
