My Favorite Venues for An Intimate Humboldt Wedding
Humboldt is home to gorgeous, one-of-a-kind, richly historic venues set within some of the most striking landscapes in Northern California. Each space carries its own character and offers a different way to experience the region. Some of my personal favorite Humboldt wedding venues include Julia Morgan Redwood Grove, Lost Whale Inn and the Benbow Inn.
The Julia Morgan Redwood Grove offers a true forest setting without requiring a long trek into the park system. Designed as part of the historic Redwood Grove residence, it blends the architectural vision of Julia Morgan with the immersive presence of the surrounding redwoods. Ceremonies here feel intimate and grounded while the sprawling lawns and stone walkways lend themselves to vibrant cocktail hours. It’s an ideal option for couples drawn to the redwoods but eager to provide their guests with comfortable accommodations.
Lost Whale Inn delivers a completely different experience. Perched above the coastline in Trinidad, it combines ocean views with the feeling of being tucked away in a private retreat. The property includes gardens, coastal trails, and direct access to sea lion serenades. Weddings have a secluded, coastal fairytale vibe.
The Benbow Inn rounds out the options with a historic, lodge-style setting in Southern Humboldt. The inn dates back to the 1920s and sits beside the Eel River, mixing historic charm with peaceful surroundings. Stone walkways, manicured grounds, and its iconic bridge cater to an elevated but unfussy couple.
